The Grove is a flourishing, accessible Christian presence in Retford, intentionally sharing and nurturing faith through worship and service to the local community, and developing our Methodist heritage to serve God in the present day.
The Grove Methodist Church and Centre is a Grade II listed building. It has an awe-inspiring worship area with modern spacious ancillary rooms for community outreach. This year will see the completion of a major redevelopment project making the premises fit for mission for the foreseeable future.
Everyone is warmly welcomed to share in our Sunday worship which takes place at 10:30 a.m. most weeks (9:00 a.m. on the fourth Sunday of the month). Our monthly Messy Church (creative craft and games activities, a worship celebration and a shared meal for all ages) takes place at 4:00 p.m. on the second Sunday of the month.
We run a weekly lunch club and coffee morning as well as two groups for older adults, which provide a natural way of caring for one another. Study groups in Lent and Advent help us to explore and grow in our faith.
Many community groups already make their home at The Grove – this includes choirs, dance groups, the historical society, craft groups and Shop Watch. The building meets the needs of the local community as a base for a Food Hub and a reporting centre for the Probation Service. We are registered for same sex marriage services.
We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and have the Bronze Eco Church Award.
